FAQs

A first class is a one-hour mixed-level class in a small room on the second floor at 62 Main Street, Tuckahoe. Beginners and regulars take the same class, the instructor offers modifications throughout rather than waiting to be asked, and mats and props are provided. Nobody is asked to perform, and nobody is watching you.

Which class should I take first?

Any of them. For mat Pilates, Jennifer’s classes run seven times a week and Vjollca teaches three more; both are mixed-level. For yoga, yin is the slowest and gentlest, hatha or slow flow give you the most time in each shape, and ashtanga is the most demanding. If you are deciding between Pilates and yoga, Pilates is the stronger choice for core strength and spinal mobility, and yoga for flexibility, balance and breath.

What should I wear and bring to class?

Wear something you can move and invert in. Bring a mat if you have one and water if you want it; there are mats at the studio if you do not, and every prop used in class is provided. Classes are barefoot or in grip socks.

Do I need to be fit or flexible to start?

No. Most students here started as complete beginners, and the most common thing reviewers say is that the room is welcoming for beginners. Modifications are offered in every class, and you are expected to take them.

Where do I go when I arrive?

The entrance at 62 Main Street is the plain white door beside the nail salon storefront, marked 62, not the storefront itself. The studio is up one flight of stairs on the second floor. Arrive five minutes early for a first class so you can say hello and set up.

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?

No. The building has no elevator, and the studio is on the second floor with one flight of stairs as the only way up. If stairs are difficult for you, please call (917) 612-4579 before booking and we will tell you honestly whether the class will work for you.

Can I take class during pregnancy?

The studio does not offer prenatal instruction. Many classes include prolonged prone work, deep spinal flexion, twisting and inversions that are not suitable during pregnancy. If you are or may be pregnant, speak to your doctor first and tell the instructor before class.

I have an injury. Can I still come?

Usually, yes, and the instructor needs to know before class rather than after. Jennifer is a licensed occupational therapist as well as a Pilates instructor, which is why the modification you are offered tends to be specific to you rather than generic.

Can I book with ClassPass or Wellhub?

Yes. Both are accepted, and ClassPass members book inside the ClassPass app as usual. Booking any class means you agree to our participant agreement, and first-time visitors may be asked to sign it at the desk.

How do I book a class?

Book online: pick a class on the schedule, pay at the same time, and you are in. ClassPass and Wellhub members book inside those apps instead. If anything goes wrong, call or text (917) 612-4579.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Cancel at least 4 hours before class and you get the class back: to your pack or membership, or as studio credit if you dropped in. Inside 4 hours the class counts as used. There are no late-cancellation or no-show fees. ClassPass bookings follow ClassPass’s own policy.

Your first class

A single class is $30. If you are new to the studio, three classes for $59 is the cheaper way to try it, and it works on any class on the schedule, Pilates or yoga. See pricing →
